Cairn

Taking care of someone you love is a lot to hold.

Cairn keeps track of the appointments, medications, and decisions, and shows you what usually comes next, so it doesn't all live in your head.

Why I built it

It started with helping my mom.

My mom was living on her own, and over time she needed me more and more — with appointments, medications, her finances, and the everyday details of her care. Eventually that led to a move into assisted living.

The hard part was never one big thing. It was keeping the whole picture straight: the team of doctors and specialists, who prescribed what and why, what changed at the last visit, where the insurance and legal documents lived, what was due next, and the hundred small things only our family knew.

Cairn is the guide I wished I'd had — a shared place to keep it together and find it fast. Not an official medical record, not legal advice, and not a replacement for professionals. Just the family memory that helps you prepare, answer, and keep moving.

The moments

The questions come fast when the path is unfamiliar.

Cairn starts with the real situations families hit first, then gives those details a place to live so the next moment is easier than the last one.

What is she taking, and who prescribed it?

Doses, schedules, the prescriber, and the reason — close at hand for the next appointment, pharmacy call, or urgent visit.

Who's on her care team?

Not just a primary doctor — the specialists and facilities, who handles what, and the right name and number when you need it.

Where are the important documents?

Insurance, Medicare, POLST, POA, and the paperwork that moves, admissions, and billing keep asking for.

What happened at the last visit — and what now?

Capture notes from an appointment, the to-dos that follow, and what it changes — so nothing is lost and you can look it back up later.

What's coming up next?

Appointments, refills, renewals, bills, and follow-ups in one shared place, so the next thing doesn't slip.

What it does

Build a shared guide for your family as you go.

Add what you know now through a guided setup. Build more into your Cairn as you continue on your journey.

Medication and care context

Keep practical details close enough that the next appointment does not start from scratch.

Appointments and prep

Capture visits, logistics, last-known notes, and the questions your family wants to remember.

Tasks, notes & follow-ups

Jot what happened at a visit, capture the to-dos that follow, and find it again when it matters.

Documents and records

Store or summarize key paperwork according to the privacy level your family chooses.

Bills and obligations

Track recurring costs, payment status, and the beginnings of a clearer monthly picture.

Contacts and roles

Know who to call, what they handle, and which family member has the latest context.

Ask what your family has saved

Use the Cairn to search shared context and draft new records for review.

Built for your family

Each Cairn is private to your family. No other family can see the information you save here.

Review-first intake

Snap a photo, talk, or forward an email. Cairn drafts the record for you; your family reviews before anything is saved.

For the next turn in the path

Start with what you know.

If this is your first time caring for someone, Cairn helps you prepare and know what to gather. If you have been down this path before, it helps make the next appointment, move, or paperwork question easier than before.
